Today is V-Day at Oak Tree Community Church!\u00a0 There is a God-sized victory that is going to happen today. This afternoon we meet with the Airport Authority to discuss a settlement agreement.<\/p>\n
As I was praying this morning about the meeting – and thinking that I want to remind you to pray – I thought about the mystery of prayer.<\/p>\n
God has already claimed a victory in today’s meeting.\u00a0 No matter what happens (or not), what agreement (or not), what amount of money (or not), God wins. It is already done.\u00a0So why pray?<\/p>\n
The answer has to do with what we pray for? Imagine a dad who had already decided that he would give his\u00a0teen up to for a night out with friends. When the teen comes and asks for some money, the dad might ask, “How much do you think you’ll need?”<\/p>\n
Not wanting to sound greedy or ungrateful, the teen thinks and says, “How about thirty bucks?” expecting to have to negotiate a little.\u00a0 What a surprise when the dad says, “Sure, here you go.\u00a0 Have fun tonight.\u00a0 I love you.”<\/p>\n
Paul wrote this about our loving, Heavenly dad:<\/p>\n
\nGod can do anything, you know–far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Ephesians 3:20 (Msg)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
What is God willing to give us today?\u00a0 I don’t know.\u00a0 But let’s ask for the world – it’s His anyway.<\/p>\n
We meet at 1:00p (EDT) this afternoon.\u00a0 Stop whatever you’re doing then and ask Dad for His best.<\/p>\n
