Here are our family thoughts on Peter&#8217;s letters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>David:<\/strong> Why is Satan like a lion? <em>(Which then led to several other good questions.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Micah:<\/strong> God doesn&#8217;t sleep<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nathan:<\/strong> What does it mean that 1000 years is like one day to God? <em>(Which led to another great discussion.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Saralynn:<\/strong> Busybodies are classified the same as murderers and thieves<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dan&#8217;l:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Peter%201:6;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">On that day you will be glad, even if you have to go through many hard trials for a while<\/a>.&#8221; <strong>Why don&#8217;t we remember this more often? Especially when our &#8220;trials&#8221; wouldn&#8217;t even bring a wince to a lot of God&#8217;s people through the ages.<\/strong>\n<li>I love the whole thing about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Peter%201:12;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">angels not understanding salvation<\/a>. I makes me feel a little extra special\n<li>Peter used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Peter%202:4-10;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">things they already understood and believed<\/a> in order to point them to Christ\n<li>With the upcoming election, this is especially appropriate. &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Peter%202:13-17;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Lord wants you to obey all human authorities.<\/a>&#8221; This is the same guy who one time said, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=acts%205:29;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">We don&#8217;t obey people. We obey God.<\/a>&#8221; The difference? We obey the government as long as it does not contradict God&#8217;s explicit commands (not just our interpretation of them).\n<li>This verse is taken out of context so often. &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Peter%202:24;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">By his cuts and bruises you are healed<\/a>&#8221; has nothing to do with my sinus headache or your sickness. It&#8217;s talking about sin and spiritual healing. <strong>Jesus did not died and shed his blood to get rid of my cold.<\/strong> You won&#8217;t find anywhere in Scripture telling us to &#8220;plead the blood of Jesus&#8221; over anything.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Peter%203:10-12;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Do you want to be happy?<\/a>\n<li>Peter is taken out of context and misunderstood a lot (and he said that Paul was). I&#8217;ll be writing a series of posts on the statement &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Peter%203:21;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">baptism now saves you<\/a>&#8220;, because it is such an important topic and so widely misunderstood.\n<li>Growing your faith is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2%20Peter%201:5-9;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an intentional act<\/a>; it won&#8217;t happen by itself.\n<li>People don&#8217;t have to believe what you tell them about Jesus, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2%20Peter%201:16-19;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no one can discount your personal experience<\/a> with God\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2%20Peter%202:10-11;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Angels don&#8217;t dare to accuse evil people before God<\/a>? Why?
