Hebrews can be such a complex book if we don&#8217;t understand the Jewish background and the little details in the Law of Moses. Still, there is a lot we can get out of it, even without those things. Here is what I heard:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=hebrews%207:4;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">Giving a tenth of our income<\/a> is not primarily an OT Law thing; it&#8217;s primarily an act of honor to whomever we give it<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=hebrews%207:12;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">When the rules are changed, the law must be changed<\/a><\/li>\n<li>What a great line &#8211; &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=hebrews%207:26;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">Jesus is not at all like us sinners<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n<li><strong>I don&#8217;t think there is a more awesome phrase in all of Scripture &#8211; &#8220;<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=hebrews%207:27;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Jesus died once for all<\/strong><\/a><strong>&#8221; &#8211; for all time and for all people.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>So often we get wrapped up in the past and present, forgetting that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%208:5;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">everything we consider important is just a &#8220;shadow&#8221;<\/a> or &#8220;copy&#8221; of the real life awaiting us. (Pop quiz: how many times did he use the word &#8220;shadow&#8221; in these chapters?)<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t remember seeing this before: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%208:9;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">God stopped caring about his people<\/a> when they broke their agreement with him.<\/li>\n<li>The strict laws of the Old Testament are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%208:13;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">old and out-of-date<\/a> because the rules have changed<\/li>\n<li>The old laws about eating, drinking, and ceremonial physical cleanliness <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%208:10-11;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">became obsolete when Christ came<\/a><\/li>\n<li>I love the analogy of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%208:15-17;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">last will<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Many people teach that Christ is already ruling on his throne, that this is his kingdom now, and it just needs to get better before he&#8217;ll come back. If that&#8217;s true, I want out! If he can&#8217;t do a better job ruling than this, I&#8217;m scared. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%2010:12-13;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">He doesn&#8217;t even have his enemies under control yet.<\/a> That&#8217;s not how the rest of Scripture says it&#8217;s going to play out.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%2010:31;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God<\/a>&#8221; &#8211; <strong>what an awful position to stand before God after intentionally rejecting him!<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%2011:3;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">Biblical Creationism is a faith thing<\/a>; interestingly, so is evolutionism<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t tell me that there is no such thing as a &#8220;seeker&#8221;. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=hebrews%2011:6;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">God rewards those who search for him<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I must have missed this before. But I&#8217;m glad that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%2011:40;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">God&#8217;s plan has included us<\/a> from long ago.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%2012:25;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">Do you think you can possibly escape<\/a>&#8221; God&#8217;s judgment?<\/li>\n<li>Hebrews is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%2013:22;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">short letter<\/a>?
