{"id":286,"date":"2008-10-01T16:30:01","date_gmt":"2008-10-01T21:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.danielgoepfrich.com\/listen-day-17-john-16-21\/"},"modified":"2009-02-02T14:29:19","modified_gmt":"2009-02-02T19:29:19","slug":"listen-day-17-john-16-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theologyisforeveryone.com\/listen-day-17-john-16-21\/","title":{"rendered":"Listen, Day 17: John 16-21"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are my thoughts as we <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oaktree.cc\" target=\"_blank\">listened<\/a> through the last of the gospels.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nowadays most people think about terrorists when they hear <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2016:2-3;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">these verses<\/a>. The apostle <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=acts%208:3&amp;version=46\" target=\"_blank\">Paul<\/a> was one of the first religious terrorists.<\/li>\n<li>People are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2016:8-11;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">wrong on so many levels<\/a> when discussing things about God. This is why it&#8217;s so important to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oaktree.cc\" target=\"_blank\">LISTEN<\/a> to what the Bible says.<\/li>\n<li>In his humanity, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2016:32;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">Jesus didn&#8217;t know<\/a> that God would turn his back while Jesus was on the cross<\/li>\n<li>If Jesus prayed that we would be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2017:15;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">protected from the enemy<\/a>, it must be a pretty big deal &#8211; much bigger than we realize.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2018:5;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">Jesus already knew<\/a> what was going to happen, and he did it anyway.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2020:9;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">How did they not know<\/a> that Jesus was going to come back to life?<\/li>\n<li>I love that Jesus came back <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2020:26-27;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">specifically for Thomas<\/a>. <strong>Not one person&#8217;s relationship with God is insignificant to him.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>I have always loved the (seemingly insignificant) fact that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2021:11;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">they counted the fish<\/a> &#8211; and that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2021:9;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">Jesus had breakfast ready<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s amazing how easily <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2021:22-23;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">stupid rumors<\/a> get started.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know if you thought this or not, but there is something about the narrator&#8217;s voice for John&#8217;s gospel that just sounded like someone telling me a story.<\/p>\n<p>I love the tone in his voice as he read the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2021:25;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">last verse<\/a>. He didn&#8217;t make it sound like &#8220;The End&#8221; &#8211; more like, &#8220;You&#8217;ve got to hear the rest of this story&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Appropriately, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?book_id=51&amp;chapter=1&amp;version=46\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;The Acts of the Apostles&#8221;<\/a> is really the continuing story of Jesus&#8217; work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here are my thoughts as we listened through the last of the gospels.
