{"id":234,"date":"2008-09-20T12:55:40","date_gmt":"2008-09-20T17:55:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danielgoepfrich.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/20\/listen-day-6-mark-1-6\/"},"modified":"2017-12-27T11:34:14","modified_gmt":"2017-12-27T16:34:14","slug":"listen-day-6-mark-1-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theologyisforeveryone.com\/listen-day-6-mark-1-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Listen, Day 6: Mark 1-6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are our family thoughts on Sept 19 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oaktree.cc\" target=\"_blank\">listening<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Saralynn:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Did everyone <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark%201:9-11;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">see heaven open and hear God<\/a> or just Jesus?<\/li>\n<li>Why didn&#8217;t Mark mention <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=matthew%2014:22-33;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">Peter walking on the water<\/a>? <strong>(Note: I have my answer. Anyone else want to share a thought? &#8211; Dan&#8217;l)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Nathan:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jesus and the disciples used a boat a lot, and they wanted to be alone several times<\/li>\n<li>Instead of just having the people sit down, they put them in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark%206:39-40;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">groups of 100s and 50s<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>David:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;I remember the story of 2 fish and 5 breads.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;The people were surrounding God like crazy.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;I heard Satan talking, the green snake that made Eve eat the apple off the bad tree!&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Dan&#8217;l:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What would it look like if we talked about Jesus as much as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark%201:45;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">this guy<\/a>?<\/li>\n<li>Why don&#8217;t people <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark%203:10;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">beg us to let them come to Jesus<\/a> and touch him?<\/li>\n<li>Jesus quoted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=isaiah%206:9-10;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">Isaiah 6:9-10<\/a> in his answer for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark%204:10-12;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">why he taught in parables<\/a>. I think the note in the <a href=\"http:\/\/net.bible.org\" target=\"_blank\">NET Study Bible<\/a> is right on: &#8220;P<span lang=\"EN\">arables both conceal or reveal <strong>depending on whether one is open to hearing what they teach<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN\">Why would <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark%205:9-13;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">2000 demons<\/a> even want to be in just one man?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN\">Jesus raised a girl from the dead, and then told them to not tell anyone! Sure, nobody will notice that. I love his order: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark%205:43;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Give her something to eat.&#8221;<\/a> Makes you wonder why she died.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark%206:6;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;He was surprised that the people did not have any faith.&#8221;<\/a> What a great comment on Jesus&#8217; humanity and love for people!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN\">Interesting that the apostles used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark%206:13;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">olive oil to heal people<\/a> instead of just saying so.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN\">So, what did they do with all of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark%206:42-43;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">leftover food<\/a>?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN\">I have always thought this was a great line: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark%206:48;&amp;version=46;\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;He was walking on the water and was about to pass the boat.&#8221;<\/a> There&#8217;s just something cool about the idea that Jesus was actually going to beat them across the lake on foot, while they were struggling against the waves.
