Psalm 28<\/strong> finishes this short series on God as David\u2019s protector (Psalms 25-28). It begins similar to the end of Psalm 27, with David asking that he not get swept away in God\u2019s judgment on \u201cevil men\u201d<\/em> (Psalm 28:1-5). He was confident that God would judge them, and he did not want to be a part of it.<\/p> Psalm 28:6 is the transition from the first part to the second (Psalm 28:6-9). David could praise God because his request was heard and answered \u2013 he would not be caught up in God\u2019s judgment. Because of this, his \u201cheart [was] full of joy\u201d<\/em> and he could \u201csing to him in gratitude.\u201d<\/em><\/p> David finished the psalm with a new request of God \u2013 \u201cDeliver your people! Empower the nation\u2026[and] care for them like a shepherd,\u201d<\/em> something that God had already promised he would do many times over.
