{"id":176,"date":"2008-06-19T11:45:37","date_gmt":"2008-06-19T16:45:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danielgoepfrich.wordpress.com\/2008\/06\/19\/vision-part-8\/"},"modified":"2022-07-26T09:06:04","modified_gmt":"2022-07-26T13:06:04","slug":"vision-part-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theologyisforeveryone.com\/vision-part-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Vision, Part 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aubrey Malphurs defines a <em>vision<\/em> as &#8220;<strong>a clear, challenging picture of the future of the ministry as you believe it can and must be<\/strong>&#8221; (Aubrey Malphurs, <em>Developing a Vision for Ministry in the 21st Century<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Over several weeks and posts I have laid out the vision that God has given me for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oaktree.cc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oak Tree Community Church<\/a>. Here are the eight pieces again (linked back to their original posts if you want to refresh your memory):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.danielgoepfrich.com\/vision-part-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I envision<\/a> families living without debt and changing their community by giving generously through the church and saving generously for the future<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.danielgoepfrich.com\/vision-part-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I envision<\/a> men and women becoming godly church leaders without having to be sent away to a professional institution (such as a seminary)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.danielgoepfrich.com\/vision-part-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I envision<\/a> older professionals mentoring younger professionals in how to live godly in the world<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.danielgoepfrich.com\/vision-part-4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I envision<\/a> children learning the fundamental truths for a strong Christian faith in a way that they can never forget in order to intentionally live them<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.danielgoepfrich.com\/vision-part-5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I envision<\/a> growing believers studying the deep things of God together and living them faithfully<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.danielgoepfrich.com\/vision-part-6\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I envision<\/a> lost people regularly giving their lives to Christ<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.danielgoepfrich.com\/vision-part-7\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I envision<\/a> a congregation intentionally making Christ-followers in their immediate communities and around the world<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.danielgoepfrich.com\/vision-part-7\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I envision<\/a> a congregation giving its community a glimpse of heaven on earth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is <em>clear<\/em> &#8211; it specifically addresses families and money; church leadership; church members not in leadership; children; adults; unbelievers; and our local and global community<\/p>\n<p>It is <em>challenging<\/em> &#8211; there is no way that we can accomplish this on our own or in a short period of time<\/p>\n<p>It affects the <em>future<\/em> &#8211; this is a forever long-term vision for our church; it is not based on me or my time at our church<\/p>\n<p>It <em>can be<\/em> &#8211; because it reflects God&#8217;s heart, it is not impossible<\/p>\n<p><strong>It must be<\/strong> &#8211; because it reflects God&#8217;s heart, he will accomplish it here if we are willing<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And there is the question: Are we willing &#8211; are <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">you<\/span><\/strong> willing &#8211; to step up and do your part to bring heaven to earth, to lead people to God, to become everything Christ-like, for the rest of your days, until you are finally in his immediate presence one day?<\/p>\n<p>This is where our church is headed. <strong>Everyone has an active role in this.
