He understands that we need to be spoken to softly and slowly sometimes. Gideon requires reassurance after reassurance, and God gives it gracefully. I love how Gideon even asks for a second sign, and at the same time asks for God to not be angry with him for it! Gideon is really scared, and knows he's pushing it, but God is patient, and keeps reassuring him.
