This chapter contains a story I have heard since I was young. For several years Jeremiah had been telling Israel and Judah exactly what God had told him to say. Now God tells him to write them all down – word for word – so that the people can hear them again.
“Perhaps even yet they will turn from their evil ways and ask the LORD’s forgiveness before it’s too late.” Jeremiah 36:7
This is one of the several internal proofs of the Bible’s source. The Bible claims that it is God’s very own words, and it was originally written to be read aloud, to be heard.
There is something powerful about the reading of Scripture. In Jeremiah’s time, the reading stirred the people’s hearts. بوكر Unfortunately, the king would not respond. موقع رياضي Instead, he cut strips from the scroll and tossed them into his little warming fire.
“Neither the king nor his attendants showed any signs of fear or repentance at what they heard. ويليام هيل ” Jeremiah 36:24
There will always be some who refuse to respond to God’s call. We must not let them discourage us; there are many others waiting to response if we would just tell them the Truth of Jesus Christ.
We must be intentional to go where people are ready and “strike while the iron is hot”. And never, never give up.
