I know it seems frustrating now, but keep practicing and you’ll get better. You get full credit for this assignment, and it becomes the baseline for seeing how you improve moving forward.

The diaeresis is used over the second of two vowels to show that they are to be pronounced separately, not together as a diphthong (BBG, 4th edition, page 12, section 3.6, point 3).

So much appreciate the history with context teaching, it helps put into perspective the passages. Sometimes reading can seem just like words alone, You make it come alive.
So thankful for all the Lord has done through your teaching. As you continue to Serve Our God…………

Thanks, Becky! I agree. We must get both our beliefs and practices from the Scriptures, not read our culture and preferences into them.

In our modern world women seem to be taking over in some areas that really need to be left to a man!! God made male and female different for a reason!!

Thanks, Lou – greetings! It’s great to hear from you. I follow your pics on Facebook. I’m glad to see you’re still active in South Korea.

I had a wonderful time with Thomas Obunde, Peter Okoth, David Kirabira, and the whole team there. I’ll never forget when you took us to Kenya in 1991. Congratulations on your subscribers. What a wonderful ministry God has entrusted to you!

Thanks for the report Daniel. Glad you had the opportunity to teach at WOLBI Uganda. We took a group of teens there in the mid ninties before Word of Life started there. Thanks for getting me going with Family Timrs on the Internet. God has helped me to now have the whole Bible up there and going out daily to about 3000 subscribers around the world.

Comment on Luke 5 by Daniel Goepfrich https://www.theologyisforeveryone.com/luke-5/#comment-32006 Thu, 26 Mar 2015 17:06:59 +0000 http://www.danielgoepfrich.com/?p=1653#comment-32006 In reply to Judy.

The demons knew that Jesus had the authority to send them immediately to their judgment (vs. 29). They knew that he was going to send them out of the man, so they asked that he send them into the pigs (probably because they were nearby).

When the pigs drowned (vs. 32) the demons would have been free to find someone or something else to enter. The point is that Jesus had authority over them. He cast them out of the men, but it was not time to end their demonic work yet.

I don’t know about their schooling, but the Greeks were doing formal medicine for centuries before Jesus. I’m sure he would have had a title. Paul called him “the beloved physician” in Colossians 4. Most of the time, last names were built as “son of” or “daughter of” their father’s name. We’re never given any background information about Luke.
